THE INGREDIENTS LIST:
500 grams.Of large shrimp, peeled and deveined.
A medium lemon, cut into wedges.
Ice, for serving.
Fresh parsley, for garnish.
FOR THE COCKTAIL SAUCE, I USED:
1 Cup.Of ketchup.
2 Tbsp.Of prepared horseradish.
1 Tbsp.Of lemon juice.
1 Tsp.Of Worcestershire sauce.
Dash of hot sauce (optional).
Salt and pepper, to taste.
PREPARATION:
1st Step:
Prepare the water by filling a big saucepan with it and bringing it to a boil. To improve the overall taste of the shrimp, boost the flavor of the water with a big amount of salt.
2nd Step:
After the water has come to a boil, add the shrimp and continue to cook them for about two to three minutes, or until they are pink and opaque. It is important to avoid overcooking the shrimp since this might cause them to turn rubbery. Take the shrimp out of the saucepan and put them straight into a dish filled with cold water to halt the cooking process.
3rd Step:
After the shrimp have been allowed to cool down, they should be drained and dried off using some paper towels. It is essential to follow this procedure in order to guarantee that the cocktail sauce will adhere effectively to the shrimp.
4th Step:
At this point, you should get started on preparing the cocktail sauce. Ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, spicy sauce (if preferred), salt, and pepper should be mixed together in a bowl, making sure that the ingredients are all distributed throughout the mixture before you stop mixing. Your preferred level of seasoning may be achieved by adjusting the amount used.
5th Step:
After the flavors have had at least half an hour to mingle together in the cocktail sauce, remove it from the refrigerator and serve it.
6th Step:
In order to serve, place the shrimp that have been cooked and cooled on a dish. You can also make an attractive display by layering the inside of a tumbler or martini glass with lettuce leaves and then placing the shrimp on top of that. In the very middle of the tray, put a little bowl filled with the chilled cocktail sauce.
7th Step:
For a vibrant finishing touch, garnish the shrimp cocktail with fresh slices of lemon and sprigs of parsley. Immediately serve the shrimp cocktail, and have fun enjoying it!
RECIPE TIPS:
If you want the finest possible results, be sure to choose shrimp that is both fresh and of good quality. Try to get shrimp that are not only solid but also transparent and have a little saline odor.
It is possible to get shrimp that has already been cooked, but preparing the shrimp yourself gives you more control over the amount of time they spend in the oven.
