The explanation is that at the time, cowboys were the group most likely to be seen wearing jeans. Cowboys used to either tuck their little pocket watches beneath their jackets or fasten them to a strap while riding, but both techniques led to the watch tumbling and shattering.As a result, Levis began producing pants with a little pocket to protect the pocket watch.
