In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Heat over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture comes to a boil and the butter is completely melted.
