Ingredients for Vanilla Sauce:
– 1 cup of heavy cream
– 1/2 cup of whole milk
– 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
– 1 vanilla bean or 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
– 4 large egg yolks
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the milk, cream, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Whisk the mixture until well blended.
3. Add the torn bread pieces to the bowl and mix gently until all the bread is coated with the liquid mixture. Let it sit for about 10 minutes, allowing the bread to absorb the liquid.
4. If desired, sprinkle the raisins over the bread mixture and gently fold them in.
